Recommend A Hero's Stone

Help us identify, nominate, and restore the headstones of fallen heroes. For every paid customer’s stone we clean, we dedicate a free stone cleaning—at no cost to families or communities.

Who Qualifies?

Our Hero Restoration Program is dedicated to preserving the memorials of those who served our country through military service, law enforcement, firefighting, first response, or other acts of sacrifice.

Military veterans with weathered or damaged headstones
First responders who died in the line of duty
Historical figures who made significant contributions to their communities

Publication Notice

Before and after photos of restored hero memorials will be published in our gallery and may be used in promotional materials to inspire others to support this initiative.

Donations are accepted to complete more stones. Please email if you would like to donate money to restore hero stones.

Stones may not be completed in the year they are nominated. All hero restorations are contingent on money and resources.

Selection Process

Submission Review
We will review all hero stone recommendations within a few days after submission.

Assessment
We review photos of the stone and other available information to assess the condition and restoration needs.

Scheduling
If funds and resources are available, selected memorials will be added to our seasonal restoration schedule. We will keep the nominator informed throughout the process. Please note that not all stones can be scheduled in the year they are nominated.

Documentation
We document the restoration process and share the transformation, and we will notify the nominator when the project is complete. We take before-and-after photos; however, the final photos may take one to three months, depending on the condition of the stone.

BODDEN MEMORIAL CLEANING AND RESTORATION LLC
Veterans & Heroes Nomination Consent, Release, and Program Terms

1. Program Overview
Bodden Memorial Cleaning and Restoration LLC (“Contractor”) operates a nomination program (“Program”) whereby, for each paid headstone cleaning, Contractor will select and clean one nominated headstone of a veteran or other eligible “hero” at no charge, subject to these terms.

2. Nominator / Submitter
By submitting a nomination, the person completing this form (“Nominator”) represents they are either:
- the legal owner of the headstone/plot, or
- an authorized family member, next-of-kin, legal representative, cemetery official, or other person with permission to authorize cleaning; or
- if not the owner, that they have obtained the owner’s consent and will provide proof upon request.

3. Nominee Information
Nominator must provide accurate nominee identification (name on stone, birth/death years if available), cemetery name, section/plot/location details, and any known information about the monument’s condition, previous repairs, or special materials/finishes.

4. Authorization to Clean
By submitting this nomination, Nominator/Owner authorizes Contractor to clean the nominated headstone if it is selected for the Program. This submission constitutes written authorization to access and clean the nominated monument as described in the Program notice.

5. Assumption of Risk and Acknowledgment
Nominator acknowledges monuments may be fragile, previously repaired, or composed of materials that may be damaged or altered by cleaning. Contractor will use industry-standard, gentle methods, but cannot guarantee results or prevent discovery of pre-existing deterioration. Nominator accepts the risk of potential damage resulting from cleaning.

6. Release and Waiver of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Nominator/Owner releases Contractor and its owners, employees, agents, and subcontractors from any and all claims, liabilities, losses, damages, costs, and expenses (including attorneys’ fees) arising out of or related to the cleaning performed under the Program, including but not limited to property damage, loss of inscription, cosmetic changes, or further deterioration discovered as a result of cleaning.

7. Limitation of Liability
Contractor’s total liability for claims related to Program cleaning shall be limited to the lesser of: (a) the direct cost Contractor incurred performing the specific cleaning; or (b) the amount available under Contractor’s applicable insurance for that event.

8. Cemetery Permissions, Access, and Fees
Nominator/Owner is responsible for informing Contractor of any cemetery rules, obtaining any required permissions, and paying any cemetery fees unless otherwise agreed in writing. Contractor may decline or defer cleaning where cemetery rules, access, or safety conditions preclude safe work.

9. Selection, Scheduling, and Notification
- Nomination does not guarantee selection. Contractor will select Program recipients at its discretion based on internal criteria and program availability.
- If the nominated stone is selected, Contractor will attempt to notify the Nominator via the contact information provided. If notification is not possible, Contractor will proceed only if it has documented authorization from the Nominator/Owner as required by Section 2.
- Scheduling is at Contractor’s discretion and may be affected by weather, cemetery restrictions, or operational matters.

10. Verification
Contractor may request documentation to verify veteran/hero status or ownership authority (e.g., discharge papers, DD-214, cemetery records, or owner ID). Failure to provide requested verification may result in disqualification.

11. Photo Documentation and Publicity
Contractor may take before/after photographs for documentation and promotional use. By submitting this nomination, Nominator grants Contractor a non-exclusive, royalty-free right to use de-identified images for marketing unless Nominator/Owner provides written refusal for promotional use.

12. No Compensation
Nominator/Owner acknowledges no compensation will be provided for participation in the Program beyond the cleaning service itself if the stone is selected.

13. Indemnification
Nominator/Owner agrees to indemnify and hold Contractor harmless from third-party claims arising from Nominator’s misrepresentations, failure to obtain required permissions, or false authorization.

14. Insurance and Non-Waiver
Contractor maintains general liability insurance. This Program Agreement does not waive any legal rights Nominator/Owner may have for gross negligence or willful misconduct.

15. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
This Agreement is governed by the laws of the state where Contractor is located. Any dispute shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in [County, State].

16. Severability and Entire Agreement
If any provision is unenforceable, the remainder survives. This document constitutes the entire Program authorization and release between the parties.

Acceptance / Consent Statement (to be included on the nomination form)
By submitting this nomination I confirm: (a) I am the monument owner or have authority from the owner to authorize cleaning; (b) I have read and accept the Bodden Memorial Cleaning and Restoration LLC Veterans & Heroes Nomination Consent, Release, and Program Terms; (c) I consent to allow Contractor to clean the nominated headstone if it is selected; and (d) I agree to the Release, Waiver, and Indemnification provisions above. I understand submission does not guarantee selection.
